Describe your role:
I advise residents of the Leeds target community about financing for new start up businesses, and advising them on the variety of funding available. Working with the Leeds City Credit Union in assessing client business plans in relation to obtaining an Enterprise Loan and ensuring all clients are aware of the full business support available as part of Sharing The Success.
What is your background and how did you get to where you are today?
Having qualified as a chef I developed my own catering company, from there I started to specialise in selling catering equipment- becoming a major player in West Yorkshire until it’s demise in 1990.
I then formed B&O Marketing, which became one of the top candle distributors in the UK, this was sold in February 2007 and after a short break I joined Sharing the Success in November 2007.
What are your best moments?
Speaking to customer 12 months after you have given them a loan, knowing that they have succeeded.
And your worst?
Trying to get a client to realise that their business idea may not be right for them in today’s economical climate.
What do you feel are the biggest challenges faced by the people you work with?
Ensuring the business idea is Viable Sustainable and ultimately Profitable
